THE NASOLACHRYMAL SYSTEM AND PREVENTION OF EYE DISEASES ; ALSO HEALTHY EYE BY AYURVEDA TREATMENTS:


 The eye is very important organ. Without eye we have to be dependent for everything on others.  In eye purpose of the nasolacrimal system is to drain tears from the ocular surface to the lacrimal sac and ultimately, the nasal cavity. This is done by nasolacrimal duct. Nasolachrymal duct  is a channel that allows tears to drain from the external eye to the nasal cavity. A nasolacrimal duct obstruction is an acquired or congenital. When this  drainage system is  obstructed results in epiphora or excessive tearing. By this,  nasolacrimal system can cause tears to flow over the eyelid and down the cheek; the  condition is called  epiphora.The opening of the nasolacrimal duct into the inferior nasal meatus of the nasal cavity is partially covered by a mucosal fold. Excess tears flow through nasolacrimal duct which drains into the inferior nasal meatus.When obstruction is persistent, one or more of the following treatments  like  tear duct massage, topical antibiotic eye drops, tear duct probing, balloon tear duct dilation, and tear duct intubation done.The condition usually gets better without any treatment during the first year of life. In adults a blocked tear duct may be due to an injury, an infection or a tumor. A variety of causes may lead to dacryocystitis. Most notably, obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct leads to stasis of the nasolacrimal fluid, which predisposes to infection. Staphylococcus aureus is a common bacterial pathogen causing infectious dacrocystitis.Sometimes, especially in women, stones may develop in the lacrimal gland, causing recurrent bouts of dacrocystitis; this condition is called "acute dacryocystic retention syndrome". Also due to pneumococcus, infection due to surrounding structure such as paranasal sinuses. About 60 percent of initial attacks of dacryocystitis will recur. Individuals with a poorly functioning immune system or immunocompromised may develop orbital cellulitis, which may lead to optic neuritis, proptosis, motility abnormalities, or blindness.

This could eventually generate more serious problems, such as orbital cellulitis. Infection of the fat and muscles around the eye.The main treatment for dacryocystitis is antibiotics. Depending on the severity,  the drugs will be selected . First the patient is given a general anesthetic. Then the doctor threads through the tear duct blockage in the nose a tube (catheter) with a deflated balloon on the tip., inflates and deflates the balloon a few times to open the blockage. Stenting or intubation.

Antibiotics and corticoids to minimize the formation of granuloma or stenosis of the opening. Post-surgical follow up is necessary  to remove crusts, granulation tissue and possible synechia up to complete local epithelialization. Ayurveda has explained many  conditions of eye ; one of which is Netra seka a simple  and effective  remedy  for eyes; best for prevention for few days & treatment for many conditions.Nethra seka or nethra dhara can cure blockage maintaining  integrity of cellular structures. Medicated decoction is prepared first of all with the herbs suggested  for the disorder. Then the patient is made to lie straight on  back and the preparation lukewarm is poured on the eye from a distances of approximately 4 inches. Eyes are kept closed throughout the procedure without exerting any pressure. This continuous flow of kashaya on the eye gives immunity and heals. So it is better  with all simple antibiotics if needed ,  dhara can be done in safeguarding healthy condition of eye. Many diseased conditions of eyes can be corrected by said Ayurveda drugs ; which are very simple but curative.

      Spondylosis is the  degenerative conditions of the spine causing pain. Most often,  osteoarthritis of the spine, is  commonly used to describe any manner of spinal degeneration.
